Sher Doruff is currently a researcher and creative director of the Sensing Presence programme of the Waag Society/for old in Amsterdam. Working in the digital arts since 1986, she has collaborated on projects intersecting many areas of performing arts practice.
She also coordinates the Augmented Performance Practice module of the Dance Unlimited postgraduate program in the Netherlands. Her articles have appeared in books, journals and electronic journals.
Sher’s research is entitled: “The Connected Event and the Affective Interval: Transducing Interplay.” This research investigates creative processes in performative, collaborative and distributed contexts. It examines improvisational, mediated performance-making on a translocal, virtual stage from an interdisciplinary perspective; a perspective supported by the theoretical threads of affect and action common to systems theory, embodiment theory and process philosophies.
